Mission Statement

The mission of the Boston Celtics internship program is to educate its participants in all aspects of operating a professional sports organization. Through observation and practical experience, interns learn how to function in a professional environment that requires a high energy level, the ability to perform under pressure and the utilization of essential time management skills. Through these developments, the Boston Celtics strive to successfully prepare their interns to compete for positions in the professional sports industry.

Finance Intern

Department: Finance

Supervisor: Vice President & Controller

Principle Function: The primary focus of this role is to assist the finance department with treasury and accounting operations along with maintaining and reporting accurate and timely financial information.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Prepare supporting documentation for all payables and receivables

  • Participate in the monthly close process

  • Assist department with special projects and reports on an ad hoc basis

  • Track and analyze certain team and front office expenses

  • Assist with financial audit requests

  • Support the payment processing team

  • Perform game night responsibilities

  • General administrative duties as needed

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field; must be a junior or senior undergraduate student

  • Excellent computer skills to include a proficiency in Word, Excel, and Outlook

  • Must be able to receive credit for internship

  • Ability to professionally handle highly sensitive and confidential information

  • Detail-oriented and organized; ability to multi-task

  • Required to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

Game Night Communications Assistant

Department: Communications

Supervisor: Senior Manager, Communications

Principal Function:The Boston Celtics are looking to fill the role of a Game Night Communications Assistant. This position is a seasonal, temporary position working with the team’s Communications Department throughout the season at all home games and, in some cases, the day before home games.

Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Organize and conduct all pre-game preparations, including credentialing, media seating, and media work rooms.

  • Hand out credentials at media/security entrance and serve as point of contact for media and current TD Garden COVID-19 protocols.

  • Serve as point of contact for visiting team, handling any potential PR needs.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field of study (Journalism, Communications, Public/Media Relations, Sports Management or English)

  • Ability to communicate with various media personalities

  • Ability to coordinate and handle multiple, time-sensitive tasks simultaneously

  • Detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated with an ability to exercise superior judgment under pressure situations

  • Must demonstrate maturity to work with confidential information in a professional manner

  • Must be available to work all home games, with availability beginning as early as 2:00 p.m.

  • Ability to work non-traditional hours (including nights, weekends and holidays)

Youth Basketball Camp Nurse

Summary:

The Jr. Celtics is the official youth basketball platform of the 17-Time World Champion Boston Celtics, which is dedicated to improving positive youth development in the community through highly engaging basketball programs teaching the standards of Celtics basketball to kids, coaches, and parents.

Would you like to help support the next generation of youth basketball programming? Do you enjoy working in a dynamic environment? If so, we have opportunity for you! In partnership with New Balance, we are searching for seasonal part-time Nurse. Responsibilities will include supporting our camp operations and participants, while working closely with the director and staff as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the City of Boston to ensure all health records are up to date and in compliance

  • Identify pertinent camper medical needs and ensures that this information is communicated with the appropriate camp staff

  • Maintain updated files

  • Prior to camp, provides staff in-servicing and health education at orientation

  • Connect with guardians and campers prior to camp to ensure all camper needs are met

  • Works alongside the camp Medical Doctor, and Athletic Trainer

  • Prior to camp prepare all first-aid kits

  • Demonstrates empathy and compassion in conduct toward campers

Requirements:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse

  • Previous experience as a camp nurse at an athletic camp preferred

  • Familiarity with medications

  • Excellent working skills including communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to details

  • Hospital experience preferred

  • Knowledge of summer camp health practices a plus

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification required

  • Physical strength to move and lift patients, water coolers, medical equipment, etc. (at least 50 lbs.)

  • Ability to take control, make sound decisions, and stay levelheaded in stressful and emergency situations

  • Available to work flexible hours, primarily weekends and holiday/school break periods

Youth Basketball Development Internship

Summary:

Responsibilities will include supporting youth basketball initiatives by working closely with our directors.

Responsibilities:

  • Ability to research, data collect and benchmark to provide presentations and reports

  • Assist in designing, developing and producing marketing material that promote youth basketball programs

  • Set up and organize data filing system

  • Ability to be physically active on court and behind the scenes to execute Jr. Celtics programming

  • Ability to engage with a wide age range of participants and ability levels

  • Overall dedication and understanding of youth development basketball training

  • Serve as a positive role model to participants by being an active and hardworking leader

  • Help grow Jr. Celtics network through existing and new relationships with youth basketball organizations and facilities in the community

Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Strong technology skills

  • Excellent time management and organizational skills

  • Ability to adapt well to a fast-paced environment

  • Physical strength to move and lift at least 50 lbs.

  • Available to work flexible hours, primarily weekends and holiday/school break periods

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
